This foundation has set the goal to raise $100,000 to help make a difference:
- in the lives of young people and families by providing support and resources to child focused horticultural and garden-related efforts;
- in the lives of young adults by providing scholarships to those embarking on careers in horticulture, through the Jane Stock Excellence in Horticulture Scholarship;
- in the community and the wider environment, through worthy horticulture and garden-related pursuits.
The scholarship portion of the foundation has been very successful. Over the past 4 years, BCLNA has received 73 applications.
13 successful applicants have been awarded $1,000 each for a total of $13,000.
Fundraising efforts are conducted throughout the year to help sustain the scholarship awards (i.e. partial proceeds from BCLNA’s Plant Auction; 50/50 Draw at the Annual Golf Tournament and full proceeds from the BCLNA Christmas Wreath Competition and Silent Auction at the Industry Christmas Party).
