Nursery stock growers, Landscape operations and Retail garden centres provide employment for the majority of the industry

GARDEN CENTRE/NURSERY MANAGER-GROWER GARDEN CENTRE/NURSERY MANAGER-GROWER (NOC 0822):
Manage and control the operational activities involved in growing, maintaining or marketing trees, shrubs, flowers and plants, etc. Management duties include supervising, budgeting, purchasing, staffing, work schedules, training, performance appraisals and terminations. Responsible for decisions on type and quantity of stock to grow based on projected sales and current orders. Establish environmental conditions required to grow trees, shrubs, flowers and plants; and care schedules.  Maintain excellent level of customer satisfaction by assisting in planning landscapes, responding to customer inquiries and training staff on customer service and sales.
LANDSCAPE MANAGER LANDSCAPE MANAGER (NOC 0822):
Manage and control the operational activities involved in the installation and maintenance of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs; structural installations; and maintenance projects. Management duties include supervising, budgeting, purchasing, staffing, work schedules, training, performance appraisals and terminations. Key responsibility is presenting and selling landscape installations, maintenance projects and services, plants, shrubbery, trees, etc. to customers; and providing a high level of customer service.
LANDSCAPE DESIGNER LANDSCAPE DESIGNER (NOC 2225):
Create an integrated master plan which includes drawings with specifications and detailed descriptions for landscaped environments including installation of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs; and construction of structural installations. Plan and coordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental use and other purposes. Create project estimates, analyze costs and maintain budgets. Meet with clients to discuss concepts and plans; sell projects to customers; and provide customer service during the span of the project.
LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN (NOC 2225):
Reads plans and interprets landscape  designs to install and maintain landscape environments and construction. Responsible for planting bushes, shrubs, trees, flowers and plants in a strategic pattern designed by a landscape architect or designer. Duties also include the construction of walkways, patios, decks, fences and other landscape features; and maintaining landscape environments. Operate a variety of hand tools and equipment such as packers, chain saws, hedge shears, sod cutters, pruning saws, mowing equipment, etc. to complete landscape and garden projects.
LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST (NOC 2225):
Certified/licensed to perform specialist functions to construct and maintain landscape environments which include flowers, trees, shrubs, lawns and construction landscapes. Examples of positions that fall under this job description are Irrigation Technician, Irrigation/Maintenance Specialist, Licenced Lawn Exterminator, Pesticide Technician (PTP program), Licenced Pest Control, etc. Uses appropriate tools and equipment required to complete tasks.
SUPERVISOR SUPERVISOR (NOC 8255):
Responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget whilst maintaining a safe work environment. Main duties are to direct, plan and coordinate daily work activities for workers. In larger operations this is done through crew leaders/forepersons; and in smaller operations personally directs workers who perform tasks in ground maintenance, landscape construction, greenhouse or nursery operations. Often the supervisor, in smaller operations, will work hands-on as well as overseeing the workers. Also in smaller operations, where there is no manager, may be involved in presenting and selling landscape installations, maintenance projects and services, plants, shrubbery, trees, etc. to customers.
CREW LEADER/FOREPERSON CREW LEADER/FOREPERSON (NOC 8255):
Assign tasks based on work schedules, keep workers on task, complete time sheets and inspect the quality of work to ensure job requirements are met. Instruct crew members on proper work standards.  Interact with customers to resolve issues or answer questions. Crew leaders, also called foreperson, work along with crew members in completing all landscaping installations/maintenance. Operate a variety of hand tools and equipment such as packers, chain saws, hedge shears, sod cutters, pruning saws, mowing equipment, etc. to complete landscape and garden projects.
CREW MEMBER/LABOURER CREW MEMBER/LABOURER (NOC 8612):
Perform manual duties to maintain landscaped environments including cutting and raking lawns, weeding gardens, pruning shrubs and trees, etc. Assist in the construction of landscapes including spreading top soil, laying sod, planting flowers, grass, shrubs, trees, etc. Perform work to assist in the construction of fences, decks, patios and other landscape features. Operate a variety of hand tools and equipment such as packers, chain saws, hedge shears, sod cutters, pruning saws, mowing equipment, etc. to complete landscape and garden projects.
NURSERY/GREENHOUSE WORKER NURSERY/GREENHOUSE WORKER (NOC 8432):
Plant, cultivate and harvest trees, shrubs, flowers and plants; and pest & disease monitoring, detection and control.  Prepare soil; plant bulbs, seeds and cuttings; graft and bud plants; and transplant seedlings and rooted cuttings. Continually assess and regulate greenhouse and outdoor irrigations systems to ensure proper watering of plants and fields. Interact with customers by answering inquiries and giving advice/ recommendations.
GARDEN CENTRE/NURSERY SALES SUPERVISOR GARDEN CENTRE/NURSERY SALES SUPERVISOR (NOC 6211):
Plan, organize and direct tasks completed by employees engaged in the sale of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs and garden supplies. Responsibilities also include selling products; customer service; and care of products. Direct, train and develop work schedules for sales employees and cashiers. Prepare reports regarding sales volumes, merchandising and employee matters.
GARDEN CENTRE SALESPERSON GARDEN CENTRE SALESPERSON (NOC 6421):
Generate sales by advising customers on selection of plants, shrubs and trees; methods of planting and cultivation; and proper care. Assess inventory of stock and advise supervisor of new stock requirements. Organize the display of plants, shrubs and trees for optimal display attractiveness.
HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (NOC 7521):
Operate heavy equipment for landscape construction projects and maintenance contracts i.e. skid steers, backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, tractors, site dumpers, mini excavators, mini backhoes, compactors, etc. Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and conduct pre-operational checks.
